Road Trip 2011

Sis and I decided to take our yearly trip to IL in October and instead of flying we both thought it would be fun to drive and bring the dog along.

October 7th, Tempe AZ to Albuquerque NM

After spending a few hours at work and stopping at the grocery store, Atori was packed and we were ready for the long drive ahead by noon. Our route heading out was the 87 over to the 260 then north on the 377 and jumping on I-40 at Holbrook. The first days drive was pretty easy, it rained most of the time but road construction was minimal and didn’t cause any delays. Seven hours later we arrived at our hotel for the night, La Quinta Inn & Suites Albuquerque Midtown. Our room for the night was amazing, big and very clean. The hotel also had a nice courtyard for dogs which Lubos got to use.

October 8th, Albuquerque NM to Springfield MO

Woke up at 4am, got around, packed the mini, and had some breakfast at the hotel. At 5:06 am we were back on the freeway heading to our next location Springfield MO. During the early morning drive we made a few stops for gas and Loves coffee/hot chocolate. From Albuquerque to someplace in Oklahoma it rained on and off, making the drive hectic at points, yes I hydroplaned somewhere in Oklahoma. About 14 hours later we made it to our destination the Quality Inn, Springfield Mo. We meet our parents at the hotel and had dinner with them at Ruby Tuesday, it was so great seeing them again.

October 9th, Springfield to St. Charles MO to IL

Took a break from driving and spent half a day in St. Charles with the parents. It was nice walking around main st. looking at all the cute little shops. We bought a few fall decorations and bought Lubos a rally square and brewers cookies. For lunch we got takeout at Long John Silvers and had a picnic by the Missouri River. The day was so perfect I really didn’t want it to end but after lunch we were back on the road. We arrived at our parents house at a decent time and Lubos got to meet Cassie.
