IFN at Secreto 8-25-10

This months IFN was at Ahwatukee's Secreto. Not sure if it was traffic or an east side thing but the turn out was noticeable smaller. Still good company and excellent food. The restaurant even gave our group 3 free appetizers^^

one of the appetizers

grilled chicken pasta (sis and I shared a plate). I would so come back and have this again

MTTS / MITM

Mini Takes the States / Minis in the Mountains

Day One- Arriving to Grand Junction 8-11-10

Joined 3 other MINIs at 6:30am for a 10-hour drive thru Arizona, Utah, and over to Grand Junction, CO. The drive up was fun but traffic was hellish at points. Got to see Monument Valley for the first time, very beautiful. We stopped two times for gas and had lunch in Blanding UT at subway. At I-70 another MINI from California joined our group for the rest of the drive. We also ran into a rainstorm, so happy I wasn’t the one driving the convertible.

Got checked into the Main Street Suites hotel around 5pm (I think). A group of us had dinner at the Rockslide Brew Pub and then got free gelato at Gelato Junction & Desserts on behalf of MINIUSA. I got the lavender gelato and sis got lemon.

Day Two- Moving onto Winter Park 8-12-10

Woke up at 5:30am, got around, packed the car, had breakfast, and checked out of the hotel. At 8am sis and I joined the MTTS send off party until departure at 9am. We joined a group of about 19 MINIs that drove the speed limit. This group was almost to slow but at lest I didn’t have to worry about getting a speeding ticket. The whole group stopped at Frisco for lunch. Some of us eat at Moose Jaw, sis and I sat by a nice couple from California. After lunch we hit the road again and made it to Winter Park before 4pm and checked into our hotel, Winter Park Mountain Lodge our room number was 414.

At 5pm we joined hundreds of MINIs for the Town of Winter Park Cruise. It was really a site seeing such a long line of MINIs and we really made an impression coming into town, there was even a police escort thru the traffic lights. The cruise brought us to Hideaway Park for a concert and other activities. Dinner was at Smokin’ Moe’s Ribhouse. I got the turkey & cranberry sandwiches, it was so good.

Day Three- Another day in Winter Park 8-13-10

Got to sleep past 7am. Spent the morning buying a few things from the vendors and hanging out with friends. For lunch MINIUSA hosted a BBQ at the Lodge at Sunspot, which was located on top of a mountain, it was cold but the view was so worth it. Around 2pm I drove Atori to a dirt parking lot to join other MINIs for the MITM group photo.

Day Four- Redrum and Denver 8-14-10

Took a morning drive with 4 MINIs thru the Rocky Mountain National Park. The drive was breathtaking and better yet we got in for free. We ended up in Estes Park and stopped at the Stanley Hotel (which is the hotel the Shining is based after), very cool even though we didn’t have time for a tour. After having lunch at Taco Bell we headed over to Denver for the MTTS festival.

The festival started out boring but later turned into a blast. Sis and I bought a few more things from the vendors. Hung out with friends, grabbed a quick dinner, I got to sumo with a new friend, met the president of MINIUSA, had a very yummy black raspberry smoothie, and enjoyed the Blue Travelers concert. Sad the day had to end so fast.

Day Five- All in All its over 8-15-10

Headed home at 5:50am with one other MINI. Once we turned off the I-70 in Utah two other MINIs (from the DMC) joined us. We all stopped for a very late lunch in Flagstaff, Burger King, not my choice of food but you must make do when you are on the road. Sis and I made it to my grandmother’s house 10mins till 6pm to pick up Lubos. I was so happy to see him again. Once we made it back to our apartment and unpacked the car we gave Lubos his new MINI collar, he looks so cute wearing it.

So trip over…I can’t believe how fast it went. I met some really nice people and made some new friends. I also got lots of complements on Atori, which made me happy.
